The Urban School Leadership programme is underpinned by the L.E.A.D. Urban School Leadership Model.
'The Urban School Leadership Programme is excellent. I have encouraged teachers at my school to attend the Leadership programme, every year since it was introduced. They have all benefited greatly from the course. Two of the teachers that attended are now headteachers and my heads of school are currently on the programme.' Dave Watson, Executive Headteacher, Chorlton Park Primary School
Who should apply?
The leadership programme is suitable for school leaders at any stage of their career who wish to develop their leadership skills. Applicants don’t need to be closely approaching headship or have gained NPQH.
What does it involve?
Over the course of one year, participants will attend three training sessions which include:
- exploring the L.E.A.D. Urban School Leadership Model, understanding the importance of behaviours;
- understanding an individual 360 survey and drawing up an effective action plan;
- exploring how to behave in a range of situations;
- inputs from experienced headteachers and business leaders;
- visits to outstanding schools.
360 survey and feedback
The 360 survey provides detailed feedback to highlight strengths and areas for development or consolidation by seeking feedback from line managers, direct reports, peers and colleagues. This process is entirely confidential. Colleagues report that this has been a very effective professional development tool.
Participants are paired with an experienced headteacher who will provide support and advice for the duration of the programme.
